New Chevrolet Equinox EV presented

The American concern General Motors will introduce a new Chevrolet electric car – a compact crossover Equinox EV. The novelty will become the most affordable model in Chevrolet’s electric lineup, which has already been replenished with the Silverado EV pickup and the Blazer EV crossover since the beginning of 2022. Both will start production in 2023.

All three models are built on the modular Ultium platform. Specifications Chevrolet Equinox EV not announced. So far, only exterior photos have been limited, which show that the crossover has an impressive wheelbase and short overhangs. According to preliminary data, it is comparable in length to the gasoline Equinox, which reaches almost 4.7 meters. The battery packs are located between the axles. The suspension is completely independent. The volume of the luggage compartment with the rear seats folded down reaches 1614 liters.

The base Chevrolet Equinox EV is equipped with a single 210 hp motor. and 328 Nm of torque. Drive – front. Depending on the battery capacity, the power reserve will be 402 or 483 km.

The all-wheel drive version of the eAWD is equipped with two electric motors with a combined output of 290 hp. and 469 Nm. Power reserve – 451 km. Acceleration time from 0 to 96 km / h – 6.0 seconds. The maximum weight of the towed trailer is 680 kg. Of the interesting – the e-Pedal system, which allows you to accelerate and brake with the accelerometer pedal.

The capacity of the traction batteries is not specified, but a standard 150 kW DC and 11.5 kW AC charger is declared. For a surcharge, 19.2 kW AC charging is available.

The 1LT is equipped with a virtual instrument panel, an 11.0-inch multimedia system, single-zone climate control and 19.0-inch wheels as standard. Of the electronic “assistant” in the presence of retention in the lane and auto braking.

In the 2LT version, heated front seats and side mirrors are added to all of the above. Of the external differences – a luminous diode strip under the lower edge of the hood.

The list of options includes a “multimedia” with a 17.7-inch display, a projection screen, a heated steering wheel and rear seats, and ventilated and heated front seats. They also offer to pay for dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control and all-round cameras. Plus, a branded semi-autonomous Super Cruise driving system is proposed, which allows you to drive “hands-free” along 640 thousand km of highways in the USA and Canada. In the 2RS and 3RS versions, the crossover stands out with original rims and an abundance of black decor on the body.

Serial production of the Chevrolet Equinox EV will be launched at a plant in Mexico, where the “fuel” Equinox is produced. The start of sales is scheduled for autumn 2023. The 2RS version will be the first to hit the market. The rest will appear in the spring of 2024. The minimum price tag is declared at the level of 30 thousand dollars.
