Hybrid Chevrolet Corvette being tested at the Nurburgring

The author of the YouTube channel CarSpyMedia managed to film the prototypes of the hybrid Chevrolet Corvett at the Nürburgring race track. And although the fact of track tests of the first hybrid modification of the Corvette on the Northern Loop has not been officially confirmed, the author is sure that it is he.

As you can see in the video, the bodies of the prototypes, and there are three of them, are tightly covered with camouflage film. Outwardly, they resemble the track Corvette Z06, but there are differences. In particular, the exhaust pipes are spaced at different angles, like the base Corvette C8 Stingray.

According to some reports, the hybrid borrows the 6.2-liter V8 from the latter. In the power plant Corvette E-Ray, the internal combustion engine will be assisted by an electric motor. He has to rotate the front axle. The aggregate output of the units is expected at the level of 600-650 hp. The drive will be complete. There is no data on the “electric” power reserve, but it will be small. In addition, a sports car will not be able to please with speed when the internal combustion engine is turned off.

As previously confirmed by the company, the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray will enter the market in 2023. Presumably, in the model line of the brand, the hybrid sports car will replace the Corvette Grand Sport. A fully electric Corvette is also promised, but the timing of its appearance has not yet been announced. It is known that this will be an independent model on the Ultium platform.

In addition, the company is developing a new Corvette ZR1. It is expected to get a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 from the Z06 with about 850 hp. And at the top of the family line will be the all-wheel drive 1000-horsepower Corvette Zora hybrid.
