Chevrolet Silverado Electric Pickup Coming In 2023

The head of General Motors, Mary Barra, shared a new piece of information about the upcoming Chevrolet Silverado EV electric pickup truck. In particular, the top manager showed photos from sea trials of the first prototype. At this stage of its progress towards the assembly line, it undergoes a series of tests at the test site in Milford, Michigan. The prototype is driven on asphalt and dirt roads.

According to some reports, the base Silverado EV WT, focused on fleets, was brought to the tests. It should hit the market in the spring of 2023, a few months ahead of the flagship Silverado EV RST First Edition.

The WT version is expected to offer up to 517 hp. and 834 Nm of torque. The power reserve of such a pickup truck will exceed 644 km. Already initially, he will be able to tow up to 3629 kg.

The RST First Edition version will receive a twin-engine power plant (one per axle) with a capacity of 673 hp. The maximum torque is 1060 Nm. The power reserve will be 644 km. A special Wide Open Watts mode allows the pickup truck to accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in less than 4.5 seconds.

According to GM, 95% of those who booked a Chevrolet Silverado EV plan to use the pickup truck as their daily vehicle. The main reason for the choice is that they need an all-electric car that can tow loads (87%) and overcome off-road (72%).
