GM has unveiled concept sketches of a new electric Chevrolet pickup truck

General Motors has revealed the first sketches of a new Chevrolet-branded electric pickup truck concept via the official GM Design website, sparking heated debate among automotive enthusiasts. While these are just design sketches, the appearance of such images could hint at the potential development of GM’s electric pickup truck line.

One of the sketches shows a massive yellow pickup truck with an aggressive design. It is available in two versions: single- and double-row cabs. The wide wheel arches, the unusual body architecture with double doors, and the low-profile front end hinting at sporty characteristics are particularly eye-catching. The absence of Chevrolet logos emphasizes its conceptual status, leaving the question of serial production open.

Another sketch, created by designer David Acosta, shows a blue pickup truck with a modular design. It has removable doors and a more compact size, making it a potential competitor in the light electric pickup truck segment. The concept’s styling is reminiscent of the upcoming Chevrolet Colorado EV, and it could likely be part of GM’s electric lineup, alongside the GMC Hummer EV and Chevrolet Silverado EV.

Some experts believe the concept could be a response to the Ford Maverick EV, expected by 2030. Such a pickup would fill the niche of affordable electric vehicles with increased practicality, which is becoming an increasingly popular category in the market.

While Chevrolet has not made any official announcements about the mass production of new electric pickup trucks, the company is already actively expanding its electric lineup. The Chevrolet Equinox EV was recently introduced with a base price of $42,000, as well as the updated Chevrolet Bolt EV, which is expected to be in the $30,000–$35,000 price range.

These moves point to GM’s strategy to strengthen its position in the electric vehicle segment, targeting a broad audience and offering both premium and affordable models.
