2014 Chevrolet Cruze Owner's Manual
The Chevrolet Cruze is a front-wheel-drive C-class sedan. The restyled version of the model debuted at the New York Motor Show in April 2014.
This car debuted at the same time as the premiere of the second-generation Cruze, which, however, received a Chinese registration for its first year and will only become available to Americans and Europeans afterwards. Well, restyling of the first generation sedan touched upon the forms of the grille and bumpers. The front one now has LED daytime running lights. In addition, the car is available with new paintwork colours and interior trim levels.
Inside the Cruze, there are some minor changes. For example, the button of central lock is moved from the central console to the driver’s door, and the boot-lock button, on the contrary, to the central console. The Americans also claim to have perfected the cupholders and now they are much more convenient to use.
The modernized multimedia system with a 7-inch touchscreen is also worth mentioning. It’s learned to connect to the 4G LTE network, built in a Wi-Fi hotspot that supports simultaneous internet access for up to seven devices, installed the Siri Eyes Free app for iPhone owners, updated the MyLink system with improved voice recognition, and added Text Message Alerts, which reads SMS messages aloud.
In terms of running gear, nothing has changed. The Cruze, as before, is built on the General Motors Delta II platform with McPherson struts in the front suspension and a torsion beam in the rear. In basic configuration, the sedan is equipped with 10 airbags, dynamic stabilization system with traction control, keyless entry system, multimedia system, full electric package and so on. In more expensive versions, the list of equipment is much wider.
The Chevrolet Cruze is powered by one of three power units. Two of them are petrol – 1.8-liter “atmospheric” with 138 horsepower, and the same 1.4-liter turbocharged, with the same 138 horsepower, but with more torque available at low revs. The third engine is the turbocharged 2-litre diesel. The petrol engines are paired to a six-speed manual gearbox and the diesel engine is paired to a six-speed automatic.
