2016 Chevrolet Camaro Owner's Manual
The Chevrolet Camaro Convertible is a ‘H1’ class convertible with rear-wheel drive. The presentation of the sixth generation of the 2016 convertible model took place on 24 November 2015, following the official launch of the coupe version.
The main distinguishing feature of the convertible is its fabric folding roof, which can be ordered in one of three versions – Black, Dark Blue and Dark Brown (Kalahari colour). Its material incorporates several layers, including acoustic and thermal, to ensure a level of comfort close to that of the coupe version. You can fold the roof in 12 seconds, to raise it, you’ll need to wait 14 seconds. And it can be done on the move, at speeds up to 30 mph (48 km/h). In addition, the roof can be folded and raised remotely – using the button on the key. A significant improvement over the previous generation is the external design of the roof in the folded state – if previously there was a significant part of it in sight, now it is almost completely hidden under a protective casing painted in the colour of the body.
From the technical point of view, the Camaro-Cabriolet almost completely repeats the coupe version (the exception is additional reinforcement of a body because of absence of a roof): the automobile is constructed on GM Alpha, called to reduce weight of the automobile as much as possible in comparison with the previous generation. Therefore aluminum was used in the chassis and suspension (McPherson struts in the front and five-lever in the rear), which allowed “dropping” the Camaro an average of 90 kg (depending on version).
