2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV Owner's Manual
The Chevrolet Bolt EV was at the top of all sorts of car tops when it debuted in 2016. At a time when the most affordable electric cars could barely get even 100 miles without recharging, the Bolt was a revolution, promising 238 miles of EPA-rated mileage for less than $40,000. Soon the pride and joy of General Motors faced stiff electric car competition from Hyundai, Kia, and the Tesla Model 3.
U.S. Chevrolet has worked on the Bolt’s 2023 battery chemistry to keep its range estimates competitive by increasing cell energy density to improve the lithium-ion battery capacity from 60.0 kWh to 66.0. According to the EPA, this change provides an additional 21 miles, meaning that the Bolt’s 259-mile estimate the year before last beats the Hyundai Kona Electric by one mile and the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus by nine miles.
