2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Owner's Manual

The Chevrolet Silverado is a full-size pick-up with rear or all-wheel drive in the ‘K4’ class. The fourth generation was first unveiled on 16 December 2017 at a special event held at Texas Motor Speedway in the US state of Texas. The car was presented to the general public on 13 January 2018 at the Detroit Motor Show.

Despite the intense competition in the Truck segment, Chevrolet continues to maintain its leading position by constantly improving its models. The fourth generation Silverado was no exception, and received not only another bogie, but also a new design and revised engine lineup. But let’s speak in order.

So, having replaced platform K2 with T1, Silverado has added dimensions: the total length has grown by 40 mm and wheelbase has stretched by as much as 100 mm. In spite of this increase, the pickup is now more than 200kg lighter. This is due to a new frame consisting of 80% high-strength steel and aluminum body parts such as doors, bonnet and rear end. By the way, it should be noted that Chevrolet didn’t follow Ford’s example and make the body all-aluminium, in fact, this fact for some people might be a reversal of the Chevy’s choice.

Exterior. Here the guys from GM continued to develop “two-story” concept of its corporate design, but this way was not to the liking of all the fans of the brand. Anyway, depending on a complete set (there are eight of them: WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ and High Country) the appearance of Chevy can slightly differ from each other: front bumper, optics, wheel disks and shape of radiator grill are changed. The Trail Boss trucks have a factory lift, two open towbars in the front bumper and are equipped with off-road tyres.

The interior of the pickup, though became much more interesting and modern, still kept its previous architecture. Therefore, the owners of the previous generation will feel quite comfortable. Of the obvious differences redesigned centre panel with a different location of the buttons of climate control, the new design of air vents and improved 8-inch screen multimedia system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
