The Chevrolet Malibu is a front-wheel-drive Class D sedan based on the GM Epsilon II platform. The world premiere of the model took place at the Motor Show in Shanghai in April 2011.

In comparison with the previous generation, the Chevrolet Malibu has undergone significant changes, both externally and technically. Visually the car became more aggressive looking than before, and some design elements remind the legendary Camaro. All these transformations benefited also aerodynamics. Thus, the drag coefficient of the car is 0.28 and special flaps are installed at the front end to improve streamlining of the body.

Principle part of the “chassis” Malibu remained the same, with McPherson struts in front and “multilever” in back, but suspension geometry reconfigured, other shock absorbers and silent blocks are installed. In addition, the wheelbase of the sedan is reduced from 2852 to 2738 mm, and together with it the overall length of the body is reduced by 13 mm, while width and height are increased by 68 and 12 mm, respectively.
